This is without question the best cutting mat I have ever used. I mostly specialize in leatherwork, but also sewing and other crafts.I build a massive butcher block work bench, and I wanted a thick self-healing mat that was transparent enough to show the grain of the bench. This fit the bill PERFECTLY. It’s nice and thick, never have to worry about cutting through, even with the extremely sharp blades I use.HOWEVER.. there is one catch. The inch marks on the left edge and bottom edge are the only marked sides, as the mat offers metric scales if you were to rotate 180-degrees. This is a nice feature, but ultimately makes the mat much less functional for either scale, as the metric scale is also not featured on the opposite edges, accordingly.If the inch lines were bolder, and the half-inch lines were thinner (or a different color/shade), this would not be as big of an issue.. but when I have an entire side of leather laid out, and am trying to square up a cut, I have to count the half-mark lines from one edge to ensure my straight-edge is lined up. If the inch markers were along the top and right sides, this would without be a 6-star rating! The mat is phenomenally well-made, but this little omission of a continuous scale along all edges knocks off a star, instead.That being said, the mat was shipped flat and I have had no issues with warping even in my garage in the warm Virginia summers. I stuck the top corners down using carpet corners, and it hasn’t budged since.In conclusion – you will not be disappointed with this mat! It is thick, reliable, and durable. Just keep in mind that the scale is not mirrored on the opposite side, so you may find that to make some projects more difficult. I am planning to maybe write the missing markers in sharpie on the bottom of the mat, so I can maximize the potential. Hopefully they remedy this in the future, because this mat is otherworldly apart from that!
